-ABOUT- Lady Nada Organics

Lady Nada Organics is a single woman run business, started in 2020, devoted to providing organic and sustainable clothing to everyone.  Most inventory is hand sewn, designed and dyed and creator Michelle!

Your skin is the largest organ of your body, absorbing from its environment and that includes the clothing on your body! Natural fibers are soft, non-toxic, moisture wickening, and better for the environment.

At Lady Nada Organics, a variety of organic bamboo, hemp, and cotton textiles are used to create handmade clothing that is truly safe for the body.

Additionally, plant and botanical sources are used to dye each one of your handmade goods. Using the magic from plants and the materials provided by Mother Earth, everything is dyed in small batches with organic raw materials.

Plant dyes materials can range from tree bark, like logwood bark native to Mexico, tree shaving like Osage Orange that can be found in North America, to various seeds, nuts, and plant parts. Marigold flowers, onion skins, avocado pits, and home grown indigo are just some of the varieties of botanical dye sources used for each one the unique, handmade pieces you receive!

WHY USE PLANT BASED & LOW IMPACT DYES?

Botanical dyes are non-toxic to the environment during the dye process. Not only because of the natural materials being used, but also because less water is consumed! Natural dye baths like indigo and madder root can be used several times, lasting for months.

Aluminum Potassium Sulfate better known as ALUM is used to chemically "bond" the natural dye material to the fabric. Alum is considered the least toxic, or even a non-toxic mordant because it has been used an additive to both foods and drinking water, as well as being a part of many skincare products. Tannins sourced from various barks are also used during the mordant process.

Protein and cellulose plant fibers in the fabric are then bonded to the naturally extracted plant dye material.

Plant and Cellulose Fabrics include
cotton- hemp - linen - bamboo - wool -

That is why all handmade clothing at Lady Nada Organics is made with organic, plant based fabrics! Low-impact dyes are also used to dye certain pieces in our thrifted section, and over dye our handmade items.

Low impact dyes are certified by Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 as eco-friendly, do not contain any toxic pigments/heavy metals that are typically found in synthetic dyes and use less water during the overall dye process as well!
